Pyrogasification: Our Technology for Producing Sustainable Gases

Our Inputs: Biomass, SRF, and Non-Hazardous Waste

By focusing on waste and local resources with high recovery value, NOVÉA is committed to the circular economy by recovering dry organic waste and byproducts—which are currently underutilized and often sent to landfills or low-value recovery streams. Through pyrogasification, these waste streams become a preferred feedstock for the production of sustainable gas.

Novea Feedstocks

Biomass

Forest chips, sawmill by-products, Class B wood, crop residues, or agri-food industry by-products: these resources from agricultural and forestry sectors are locally available but remain largely under-exploited.
At NOVÉA, these non-food organic streams become a true lever for renewable energy, capable of replacing fossil fuels.

Non-Hazardous Waste

Solid Recovered Fuels (SRF), used tires, and other similar non-hazardous streams: NOVÉA valorizes waste that is currently insufficiently recycled by conventional channels, despite its high energy potential.
Rather than sending them for disposal, NOVÉA transforms them into genuine secondary energy sources, driving a fully industrial circular economy.

A Regional and Circular Approach

By prioritizing local resources available as close as possible to production sites, NOVÉA is building a regional waste and byproduct recovery system that minimizes transportation distances and associated emissions. This approach strengthens stream traceability, reduces the carbon footprint of supplies, secures the territorial anchoring of projects, and transforms local resources into useful energy for the regions.

From Raw Material to Sustainable Gas: Our Valorization Method

Staged pyrogasification is a multi-step thermochemical process that converts organic matter (biomass, non-fermentable waste) into sustainable gas.

This technology is based, in particular, on the separation of the pyrolysis and gasification reactions, which makes it possible to optimize the quality of the syngas produced. Once produced, this gas can be directly utilized for industrial purposes or converted into methane, methanol, hydrogen, or other useful molecules.

Industrial Pilot Site

NOVÉA operates an industrial demonstrator that has been running for several months. It allows for real-world validation of the technical feasibility of the installation, energy and environmental performance, stability and safety of continuous operation, and the robustness of the process against variations in the quality of treated inputs.

This valuable and concrete feedback allows NOVÉA to confidently design its future industrial units, ensure the reliability of their operational approach, and accelerate the deployment of staged pyrogasification on a larger scale.
